Principal Adam Dobrowolski relies on the support and resources the diocese provides to help St. Francis Xavier School in Petoskey be anoutstanding school of choice for children in preschool through 8th grade.“As a small Catholic school, some opportunities would be impossible toprovide for our students if not for the support of the diocese. Our studentsand parents benefit from things like our Student Information Systemand standardized testing, both of which the diocese underwrites for allCatholic schools. e Student Information System makes it possible to sharecommunications with the entire school community, keeping everyone up todate when important messages need to be shared quickly. Standardized testingallows us to meet students where they are and make individual learningadjustments. It also helps us make major curriculum changes for everyone toensure we are seeing the growth that is expected.e diocese supports our teachers and administrators with professionaldevelopment. Each year, our school faculty attends convocations hosted by thediocese where all schools come together to share best practices and hear fromnational speakers on the latest curriculum ideas. ese are all things thatindividual schools could not do on their own. ese opportunities help us tobe great educational institutions.”Genevieve MacRAE loves to serve as parish secretary and bookkeeper for St. Ann in Frankfort, a position she’s had fornearly six months. Recently, she took on a new volunteerrole as an assistant to the parish’s youth minister, and she waslooking for instruction on how to best reach and interact withyouth in her Catholic parish. Genevieve attended CatechistDay, a free training and certication program for parishcatechists and youth ministers, organized by the diocese’s FaithFormation team and supported by CSA funds.“Attending these classes taught me how to reach the youth – bothin messaging and activities. At St. Ann’s, we have kids between 6and 18 years old in our youth group. So, we need to vary the waywe present ideas and change the hands-on activities based on age.ese classes gave me the tools and knowledge to reach our youth, helping to pass on our faith.
